Meet Our Director

Ulrike Chouguley
Ulrike is an evaluation specialist with 15+ years of experience in the arts and cultural heritage sector. Her areas of specialism include impact research for festivals and cultural organisations, design and delivery of evaluations, as well as carrying out qualitative and quantitative research projects in the cultural and heritage sector.
Ulrike has extensive experience in developing outcomes-based evaluation frameworks, designing evaluation methodologies and working with organisations to improve their evaluation practice and culture. For instance, she currently works with the National Theatre to develop an impact framework and embed an ongoing evaluation process with the organisation. Other recent clients for this line of work include The Old Courts Wigan, Emergency Exit Arts and Global Local. She has conducted formative and summative project evaluations for clients such as the V&A, Battersea Arts Centre, Historic England, and led on a community consultation for the Greater London Authority.
As an Associate of BOP Consulting, she recently worked for clients such as Festivals, Edinburgh Festivals, German Federal Foreign Office and National Lottery Heritage Fund. She is also an Associate of The Audience Agency, jointly delivering evaluations and impact studies for Alexandra Palace and Park, Architectural Heritage Fund and Rochdale Borough Council.
In her previous role as senior consultant at BOP Consulting, she took a leading role in most of BOP’s research and evaluation projects, working for clients such as the Department for Media, Culture and Sport, UNESCO, British Council, European Commission, World Cities Culture Forum, City of London Corporation, Arts Council England, and the previous sector lead organisation MLA (Museums, Libraries and Archives Council), National Trust and Museums, Galleries Scotland.
Ulrike holds a PhD from City University, London. Her research focused on the role of informal cultural practices in London and Mumbai and explored their interplay with urban policymaking. She also has an MA in Cultural Policy and Management from the University of Warwick and a Bachelor of European Media & Culture from Bauhaus University, Weimar, and University Lyon II Lumiere.
